because (as I made clear in a post yesterday) Zhaan's own description of her biological properties to Crichton would not fit with the definition of a terrestrial "plant" (species in the kingdom Plantae). She is plant-like. I ended up yesterday's long give and take by referring to her as "plantoid," but "flora-derived" is good. In fact, it may be the politically-correct expression in her part of the galaxy (like we now call American Indians "Native Americans").
